So you weren't born with a set of cute little dimples when you smile and you think that you might like to add one? No problem! Just ask Jesse from Inglewood, Colorado. Born with a dimple on the left hand side of her cheek, Jesse wanted to even out her smile by adding a dimple to her right.

The surgery is a relatively simple procedure done under local anesthesia. A small incision is made inside the mouth, and a small suture loop is then added to create the right size indentation in the cheek or the chin. It takes roughly two to three months for the surgeon-made indentation to fall out, after which the dimple will only appear when the patient is smiling.

Surgeons often suggest adding a dimple on one side only because it is nearly impossible for even the most skilled surgeon to create two symmetrical dimples. People with chubby cheeks are considered to be good candidates for the procedure.
