According to statistics published in the 2006 World Factbook, life expectancy in the United States is 77 years. Don't send out save-the-date cards just yet. Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence (SENS) is a medical engineering project striving to remedy and reverse human aging. The SENS strategy is not to interfere with metabolism, like traditional gerontological approaches, but to repair or prevent the accumulating damage and thereby indefinitely postponing the age at which it reac...

Technorati Profile John Joseph Conway is living proof that men can become just as vain as women when it comes to getting plastic surgery. The Chicago firefighter took his admiration of Bruce Willis to new heights when he traveled last month to New Delhi, India to get his jaw line reconstructed to look like the actor. "I'm a firefighter. I need to look the part. I wanted to improve my jaw line. Bruce Willis has a nice strong jaw," he tells the Hindustan Times newspaper. Conway, who also tr...

We hear that with every generation, people are living longer. But just how much longer? Well, last year, Los Angeles resident, Mark Johnson died at the age of 112. He was thought to be the oldest living Californian and oldest surviving veteran of World War I. What's more, doctors who performed the autopsy said that his body was like that of a 50 year-old, and here's the catch: His diet was largely sausages and waffles! Hmmm... does that mean that sausages and waffles will give you the body of...

Does having breast implants make a woman a suicide risk? According to a study published in the August issue of Annals of Plastic Surgery, the answer is yes. ABC News and USA Today are reporting that the study, conducted by researchers in Maryland, Tennessee, and Sweden over an eight-year period, found that "women who have breast implants are three times as likely to die by suicide and have a similar increased risk of death as a result of drug use or alcoholism." The 3,527 women used in the...

You've seen the commercials of Tiger Woods praising the surgeons that corrected his poor eyesight with laser eye surgery. "Now I see the ball 20/20," he beams in the ad. While millions like the golf guru have had the surgery, many with poor eyesight still don't know what it is or how it works. Having had the surgery, I can give you the basic nuts and bolts. Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis, better known as LASIK, in a nutshell, is laser eye surgery that corrects your vision in a matt...

This kind of goes with the last article, below. If a spouse gives you a plastic surgery gift certificate how would you react? There's a voting on-line that I thought was interesting (follow link)...Would you... 1) Say "Thank You!" then secretly go to your room and cry 2) Say "Thank You!" (and mean it) then race to the phone to schedule a consultaion 3) Become outraged, tear it up, then break up with your partner/spouse on the spot! 4) Say "Thanks but No Thanks" and graciously retu...

How would you react if, on Christmas morning, your husband handed you a gift certificate in the amount of $10,000.00, redeemable only by the plastic surgeon of his choice, along with a note that read, "Honey, I'd really love to fondle your breasts again without having to bend down. Love, your husband of twenty-two years, Charles." "The American Society of Plastic Surgeons estimates its members performed 10.2 million cosmetic surgeries at a cost of $9.4 billion in 2005. That's a 38 percent ...

Some of the biggest boobs in Hollywood don't necessarily belong to women. Sadly, some male stars have let themselves go and sprouted the dreaded man boobs (where's a "Bro" when you need one?). On the bright side, we can still count on a few more disciplined fellas to show off the sculpted pecs that we all drool over. In this round-up of the best and worst male chests in town, you'll discover who's got the goods and who's got more cleavage than a party at the Playboy Mansion. KURT RUSSELL ...

Now this is interesting. We put up another poll on our site (link) where we wanted to know where people hold their ethics...Suppose your fiance had a nose job before you and him/ her met....are they obligated to tell you before you become wed? The current standing on the site is 54% to 46% so I thought I'd throw it out to the JU community, y'all always have the answers!

If you believe death is something man has no control over, I strongly suggest watching this eye-opening short film on You Tube, The Immortalists. It may just change your mind. This eight-minute video explains how the coalescing of knowledge, computer technology, stem cell research, and genomic engineering is fast turning man's quest for immortality into a reality. The film includes interviews with Dr. Ray Kurzweil, Author, Futurist, Inventor, Dr. Michael Fossel, Author of Reversing Human A...

Check out the link to see the current voting! If you could replace one body part what would it be? Hmm. I'm not sure, I may say eyes, but, how about my legs...my stomach...the list is endless! Being involved in plastic surgery I was kind of wondering what most people would replace (hence the reason I made the voting!). Obviously breasts seem to be the number one replacement but...you'd probably be surprised at which ones came next. What do you think? Link: http://www.body-philosophy.net/no...

What do you think? The link given is a link to a voting, which is currently 51% to 49% (very close!) on whether a parent should give their over-weight child liposuction or not. I'm kind of torn as well, what do you think?

#10 Bruce Jenner. 58-year-old Bruce Jenner has made a lot of changes in his life since winning that gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics. Yes, these days it's difficult to look at before-and-after pictures of the former track star without shaking a fist up towards God and screaming, Why! Why! Why! I try not to judge the American icon. Truly, I do. Perhaps his penchant for plastic surgery began moments after the Wheaties brand breakfast cereal replaced his picture on their boxes with a new, ...

Years ago, when I was just an innocent lamb in college, party girls knew they could get their mojo going with a couple of shots. Apparently now it's even more true - but instead of a tequila shot poured down their throat, more and more women are choosing a G-Shot injected right up the yin-yang. Okay, perhaps I'm putting that a bit indelicately, and not giving the procedure its due. So let me rephrase that a bit. Recently invented by an "aesthetic gynecologist" in Los Angeles (where ...
